Polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE) is a chemical used to make engineering plates, rods, tubes, corrosion resistant pumps, valves and also suspensions for corrosion protection, electrical insulation coatings and films.
It is a white powder with a crystallinity of 85% to 90%. Relative density 2.07~2.18, refractive index 1.429~l.439. melting point 215℃, decomposition temperature >315℃, glass transition temperature 58℃, heat deformation temperature 75℃(1.82MPa), loss of strength temperature 270℃. Good low temperature, long-term use temperature -200 ~ 300 ℃. It has particularly good transmission of visible light, ultraviolet light, infrared light and gas barrier performance, chemical stability is second only to PTFE. At high temperatures (140°C) it is not resistant to chlorosulphonic acid, caustic soda, newborn element fluorine and high concentrations of fuming sulphuric acid. Soluble in benzene, toluene, paraxylene, carbon tetrachloride, cyclohexanone, cyclohexane and other solvents at high temperatures. Good adhesion to metals and good dimensional stability. Very low water absorption, good mechanical and electrical insulation properties, good creep resistance.
It is used to make engineering plates, rods, tubes, corrosion resistant pumps and valves, and can also be made into suspensions, used as anti-corrosion and electrical insulation coatings and films.
