Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, Polytetrafluoro-Ethylene) is also known as Teflon and Teflon. It has a wide range of applications. In the chemical industry it is suitable for use as chemical equipment lining; pipe, fittings and valve lining; pumps, heat exchangers, fractionating towers, bellows, gaskets and sealing fillers. In the machinery industry, it can be used as mechanical seals, piston rings, rotating bearings, etc. With its production of mechanical dynamic seal ring or static seal ring, with ceramic ring, high silicon iron ring or carbide ring, etc. to form a mechanical seal friction parts. They can also be used as auxiliary seals, such as O-rings and V-rings. Filled PTFE products made by adding glass fibre, graphite, bronze powder or molybdenum disulphide, have good lubricity and wear resistance, and overcome the disadvantages of creep. In the electrical and electronic industry it can be used as wire, cable insulation, high frequency cables, flexible cables, motor grooves, high precision capacitors, electronic tube sockets, various parts and connectors, electronic computer signal line insulation, printed circuit boards, etc. In the construction industry, it is used as bridges, tunnels, steel roof frames, large pipes, storage tanks, and even highways and displacement support sliders. In the textile industry it is used as anti-adhesive rollers, reciprocating moving parts and PTFE-impregnated conveyor belts. In the food industry it is used as a release agent, etc.
Due to its excellent resistance to low temperatures and media, it is generally used for teflon gaskets and hydraulic assemblies. O-rings can also be surface sprayed to enhance the wear and media resistance of O-rings. However, due to its elastic deformation, it is rarely used as an O-ring alone for sealing.
